This is What We Do For An Encore

23 JUNE start 20:30

Rotonda del Lungomare, Taranto

Jarvis Cocker formed PULP during an Economics lesson at school in Sheffield in 1978. Their first public appearance was at Rotherham Arts Centre on the 5th July 1980. A John Peel session in 1981 produced the first recordings by the band to be heard by the public.

The “classic” line-up of the band (Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior) came together in 1988 when Jarvis moved to London to study film-making at St Martin’s School of Art. Mark Webber (who had been working as the band’s tour manager) joined PULP during the recording of the album “Different Class” in 1995. PULP’s last album (to date) “We Love Life” was produced by Scott Walker in 2001. PULP’s last concert in The Netherlands was on the 26th August 2001 at the Lowlands Festival in Biddinghuizen.

PULP’s bass player, Steve Mackey, passed away on the 2nd March 2023. The current “This is What We Do For An Encore” tour has become dedicated to his memory.

In compliance with current legislation, for safety and accessibility reasons, specific and limited places are reserved for people with disabilities within the event location, suitable for the particular circulation needs of wheelchairs and people with reduced or impaired motor skills.
